Opinion
Only the display and the mic remain. Even G2 ships with neither a speaker nor a camera.
The official product page, the spec sheet, and the support Q&A. What goes out is green text in both eyes, and there is no speaker. What comes in is the microphone, and there is no camera. The ring is the part you use so you do not have to touch the glasses.

Even G2 is a pair of glasses that puts text in the lenses. The official pages say it has no camera and no speaker. What it sends outward is the display, and what it takes in from outside is the microphone.
This is my everyday pair. I read notifications and translation as text, without sound.
What it returns is green text, not sound
The product page’s display is for both eyes. The method is a waveguide, a thin plate that carries light inside the lens. The part is a very small LED (Micro LED), and the color is green. The support Q&A answers the question of whether it can play sound by saying Even G2 does not come with speakers.
It does not answer with sound. Login codes and translation both arrive as text, not through the ear. On a train where you do not want to speak, this split fits.
What it takes in is the microphone, not a camera
The same product page puts the lack of a camera forward as a design choice. The explanation is that it does not record, and that it avoids awkwardness with people nearby. Asked whether it has a camera, the page says that to put privacy and the display experience first, input is the built-in microphone rather than a camera. The spec table lists four microphones as the input.
It does not keep a picture of what you saw. The microphone picks up the words in a conversation, and the reply shows up as text in the lenses. One reason I wear it every day is that it is harder to make the other person brace.
The ring is how you control it without touching the glasses
Even R1, on the same page, is a ring that controls the G2. The page says you tap and scroll to control it, and also that it keeps watching heart rate and blood oxygen. Another answer says you can control it without touching the phone or the glasses. The ring is not in the list of what comes in the box. It sits in a separate section, as the part you use to control the glasses.
Input and output means the information that comes in from outside, and the information the glasses send back. In a post on 28 October, I split it like this.
Even G2 is a very extreme device, and it narrows IO quite a bit
Glasses → person
If it shows a screen, that’s enough, right?
Then we can skip the speaker
Person → glasses
If a mic picks up the sound, that’s enough, right?
Then we can skip the camera
The ring only adds another trigger. In this early period, there is a non-redundant beauty in glasses that narrow IO.
In a period when glasses of this shape are still scarce, I find the version that removes things more beautiful than the version that adds them. What the official page puts first as control is not having to touch the glasses or the phone. Watching heart rate and the like sits next to that.
If you want to read notifications and translation without sound, this way of cutting things down is close. If you want music from the glasses, or a photo of the moment, that is a different purchase.
