What I liked about Even G2 translation was easier-to-read subtitles
Translation tested with English videos and podcasts: separating recognition quality from how easy the text was to read.

AI-assisted English translation of the author’s Japanese article. Product screenshots and embedded source material are reproduced in their original language. Read the Japanese original.
The improvement I especially noticed in Even G2 translation over G1 was the room to read. Rather than a dramatic jump in translation accuracy, the larger display made the text easier to follow. Those deserve separate judgments.
I tried videos, news and podcasts
For the one-week review, I used translation with English YouTube videos, overseas news and podcasts. Accuracy felt somewhat improved over G1. I did not measure agreement with reference translations or latency, so this should not be treated as a translation benchmark ranking.
Previously, subtitles felt squeezed into a small window. G2 gave me more room to read at once. Even with similar translation content, less fragmented reading changes how comfortable sustained use feels. Translation glasses are about more than their translation engine.

Treat conversation assistance as a separate feature
I also tried conversation assistance, including transcription, term explanations and summaries. The original review shows a term explanation triggered by a discussion of a Japanese input model. However, the screen spells the name “Zens,” so it does not demonstrate accurate proper-name spelling.
Decide whether your goal is reading translated subtitles, following Japanese conversation in text, or getting help with unfamiliar terms. Similar-looking features can require different kinds of accuracy in different settings.

Try the kind of speech you actually listen to
If possible, test speech on topics you normally hear, assessing whether you can follow the text as well as the translation itself. This experience does not prove equivalent performance in a noisy venue or overseas. My strongest impression was improvement in the tool for reading translations, more than in translation alone.
